Accolades
- In June 2008, I received a scholarship to attend the master class at the Rope Walk Writer’s Retreat in New Harmony, IN.
- In March 2008, I received a scholarship to attend the Mid-South Creative Nonfiction Writers’ Conference at the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
- In June 2007, I graduated from Northwestern University’s Masters in Creative Writing program, where my final thesis, “Through an Unlocked Door,” won the Distinguished Thesis Award.

Chicagoist
From September 2005 to March 2007, minus a four month hiatus in the middle, I was a writer and Associate Editor for Chicagoist, the Windy City bureau of the Gothamist network of urban news and events sites. I covered a range of topics and provided editorial assistance to a staff of roughly 20 contributors.
